If you have limited time, but want to get a real feel for the Atlas mountains and the Berber people, then this 2 day trek could be right for you.
We offer 2 separate day walks (the duration and pace is up to you, but typically 5 to 6 hours walking each day), combined with freshly prepared lunches with a Berber family or picnic if you prefer.
You spend the night in Aremd, the highest and still traditional village in the Atlas, with great views up towards Toubkal. Here you have the option of using the village hamman before your evening meal.
All in all a good way to experience the Berber way of life and cuisine and enjoy the scenery of this renowned area.
Day 1:
Pick up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech after breakfast for transfer to Imlil where you meet Ahmed and start your walk up to Aremd where you have a freshly prepared lunch (typically tagine or couscous). After lunch you continue to walk visiting Berber villages until you arrive at your Berber guest house for your overnight stay.
Day 2:
This is a another day of walking. Usually this is up to the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch (2350m) en route to Toubkal refuge. Here you could picnic by the waterfall (depending on the time of year) or return to Aremd for lunch. Later in the afternoon you return to Marrakech.
