Aremd

Aremd is a typical village in the High Atlas, still largely unchanged and traditional. At 1900 metres it is the last village in the Mizane Valley and offers stunning views of the summit of Jebel Toubkal and the surrounding mountains. Aremd is about 40 minutes on foot from Imlil and though there is a rough road joining Aremd to Imlil, the streets of the upper village are traffic free – apart from the occasional mule and goat.

Aremd is an ideal base from which to explore the Toubkal area or to spend a night before or after the ascent of Toubkal. It offers the opportunity to experience at first hand the gradually changing Berber way of life, to enjoy the mountain scenery, to be served traditional Moroccan food and to visit the village hamman (communal sauna).
